Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala, Naveed Ahmed, recently visited the historic Haveli of Maharaja Ranjit Singh to inspect the ongoing restoration and revamping work. The site, a culturally and religiously significant location, is being renovated under a major conservation project.
During the visit, an officer from the Walled City Authority briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the project’s progress. The haveli holds immense historical value as it is the birthplace of Punjab’s first Sikh ruler, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and is considered sacred in Sikh heritage.
DC Naveed Ahmed emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of construction to complete the restoration at the earliest. He stressed that once the work is completed, the site will play a key role in promoting tourism in the region. He also directed that the surrounding area be kept clean and aesthetically improved, with widened and beautified access routes.
The restoration project is being carried out at a cost of PKR 90 million, aiming to bring the historical structure back to its original glory and preserve it for future generations. The initiative marks a significant step towards honoring the region’s cultural and historical legacy.
